Mini Sequencer
PD software is a context an open-source dataflow programming language that opens up new ways for thinking about melody, rhythm and pattern. With the idea of interaction design and new media thinking, we were introduced to this software. A fundamental understanding of the software and its elements were covered during this exercise. I did exploration in pure data by trying to develop a mini sequencer. An oscillator was created at the beginning which oscillated from one to a negative one. With midi to frequency object by tweaking the numbers, the pitch of the oscillator was controlled. Next, a melody was created by list the numbers through the object. Reading and creating a table was understood by performing this task. Further with understanding, a melody was created for an oscillated noise which can be edited and controlled through the sequencer.
The process of understanding and working in Pure data was quite challenging even though the interface looked quite a symbol. With the creation of a mini sequencer, I would try to explore the higher programs which can be used for creating visualizations and music controllers. I am not sure that is how this application would have an influence in my career but I believe that through this exploration I was able to add a new skill list to my portfolio.
