Sustainability in Modern World

In this rapidly-growing world, the survival of all species depends directly or indirectly with the natural environment. Development must meet the needs of the present world without compromising the needs of future generations. With the pace of development that happening, it could turn to be a major threat to our environment. This is where Sustainability plays a major role. Everyone needs to be equally responsible and should contribute to safeguarding the environment. And a major hand or support can be in the hands of designers. Through their perspective, every design should turn to be a sustainable design, which could reduce the negative impact happening on the environment. The main objective is to reduce the consumption of non-renewable resources to minimize waste and go for more Eco-friendly development. It is where modernization and sustainability have to be proportionally balanced.

The Perspectivity Game

This is a game which focuses on climate change and promotes thinking towards the impact on environmentally and the importance of sustainable development. The game is played between 6 teams and a facilitator where the main objective of each team is to the progress of their virtual economy. As an initial investment, each team got a normal factory/industry.

For each round, we have to develop our economy by building factories, connections and also upgrading the plants to Eco-green factories. Over the initial rounds, everyone competed for having the highest economy by blindly focusing to improve on the individual economy by building normal factories and not upgrading to green factories. At the end of each round disasters struck to the entire world striking our assets.

It was at this point that all the teams realized that everyone has to contribute and mutually plan sustainability to protect the earth and at the same point improve the economy. At this points the game became interesting, there were mutual agreements, proper planning and focused saving for the sustainable long economy. Just like in the real world, a lot of situations happened within corners of this board game. The overall task or highest economy cannot be achieved individually, but with mutual agreement, team planning and moving towards more sustainability.

It was indeed a mind-changing experience in playing the perspective game. This made me think across the current scenarios that are happening, as every nation is individually competing for becoming powerful ones.

The current environmental issues and other problems can only be solved by individually stepping out to it with mutual coordination with others.
